My journey to eating whole food began when my first child started eating table food. It had taken ten years for us to have a child, and her birth was a traumatic one. She was born with bacterial meningitis. We didn’t know if she would survive or have long-term debilitation. That experience changed me. I worried that some latent malady would surface. Knowing that God was and is in control of our health, I also knew that I could do my part in being a good steward of her health by giving her the most nutritious food possible – food that would nourish her and help her thrive. It was just the beginning of my journey. After I had my second child, I put on lots of extra weight and was generally tired and had aches and pains. I knew I needed to take action. While I thought we had been eating well, we still ate out, ate some processed foods, and consumed foods with refined sugar. I began to read more and more and explore the world of whole foods and nutrition. I eliminated processed foods and refined sugars, ate “real food”, and began exercising. I lost 48 pounds, felt better than I ever had, and developed a passion for a healthful lifestyle. This blog is an outlet for that passion. It is my desire that what I have learned will help you, no matter where you are in your journey to healthful living. Remember, nutrition begins from the ground up!
